Taxonomic definition An accessory cuneate nucleus is a somatosensory nucleus of caudal rhombencephalon [nucleus somatosensorius rhombencephali caudalis ] which is lateral to the cuneate nucleus [nucleus cuneatus ] and processes proprioceptive information from the upper limbs [membrum superius ] in a similar way than the posterior thoracic nuclei [nucleus thoracicus posterior ] (Clarke columns) in the spinal cord, projecting to the cerebellum [cerebellum ].
